Italian Export keep growing
This is the ratio that indicates a real primacy by Italy with reference to the manufacturing foreign trade balance: it ranks fifth internationally and second in Europe.
These data refer to 2016, a year that the then Secretary General for Economic Development, Ivan Scalfarotto, described as “particularly difficult, characterized by the crisis and instability for international trade at a global level, in which Italian exports of goods have reached the record level of 417 billion, while imports have dropped by 1.4%, for a trade balance that registered a new high, reaching 51.6 billion”.
The recent analysis by Marco Fortis, Edison Foundation, for the newspaper “Il Sole 24 Ore”, of the data presented by the United Nations shows an even more disruptive Italian trade balance, especially looking at the leather sector.
Indeed, among the first 10 product categories (out of the 228 that generate a countervalue of a 201 billion dollar trade surplus), in which Made in Italy products hold first place in the world for a positive trade balance, three represent the leather sector: leather bags and luggage in first place; footwear with natural leather soles in fourth place; tanned rawhide in tenth place.
And if fashion holds 338 positions of excellence (37 billion dollar surplus) in these rankings, the mechanics and machine tool sectors, as well as the home furnishing sector, obtain excellent first places too.
In this number we experience some of these excellencies first hand talking of innovations for tannery machines and of the novelties related to leather in the furnishing sector.
