Marketing and research

How much does it matter that a leather is of high quality and that the products made with it are not dangerous for those who will choose to wear an item of clothing made from leather, the most natural material?!
A common thread links many of the topics covered in this issue, a common thread that speaks about the importance of the research and analysis of leather, but suggests also the importance of communicating to the world how much the tanning sector is made up of solid companies, which want to increasingly perfect their manufacturing tools.
The articles that we define as technical focus once again on fundamental problems linked to chromium, like the important issue of the release of chromium III and chromium VI from leathers and the ISO 17075 method for the measurement of chromium VI. Or like the “Effects of Accelerated Aging on the Physical and Chemical Proprieties of Chromium-free Leather”.
The problems raised by these topics are echoed by the appeal of Leather Naturally to consider the role of marketing as increasingly central also in tanning, so that the final customer becomes aware of the reliability of those who work in the industry. All of this is echoed by Nogarole’s reflection on “fur recovery”, which demonstrates how the search for increasingly better and sustainable solutions for leather processing is part of the nature of the industry professionals.
