The Polytechnic Institute of Leather will soon become a reality in Campania. Already opened in Veneto, the training program for the tanning sector was presented on 29 January 2018 in Naples, as part of the educational exhibition “Questa non è una Sòla” (This is not a Fake) and will involve the “Ronca” ISISS, a high school for tanning technicians of Solofra (Avellino).

Developed by the “Stazione Sperimentale per l’Industria delle Pelli e delle Materie Concianti” (Experimental Station for the Leather and Tanning Materials Industry), the new training course will start in October 2018 and will involve a maximum of 25 students with a second-level diploma, offering about 1,800 hours of teaching activity, of which 720 hours of internship. The qualification obtained at the end of the training course – a qualification halfway between a high school diploma and a university degree – will be that of “Senior Expert Technician in the Science and Technical Culture of Leather and new materials,” whose complex name contains all the nuances that the Leather Experimental Station wants to bring forward with the relaunch of the leather supply chain: tradition, enterprise, technology and circular economy. In fact, the objective is to train technicians in tanning production, green managers and product managers who will be placed in companies of the sector.
