“The Italian Leather Research Institute launches a three-year strategic plan that includes investments in research and sustainability.” This is what Edoardo Imperiale, general manager of the Italian Leather Research Institute said when opening the workshop “Research at the service of businesses: the case of the Italian Leather Research Institute”, promoted by SSIP at SMAU Padova 2018.

Explained Imperiale:

The Station is working towards enhancing Italian leather in terms of sustainability, innovation, technological transfer, safety, and last but not least, training with the Leather Polytechnic project, in line with the needs and requirements of tanning companies operating in the Industrial District of Arzignano.

For Elisabetta Boscolo, Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts of Vicenza, “the district of Vicenza has 800 companies, 10 thousand employees and a 3 billion turnover, with 80% of exports. At Vicenza, we opened an operational desk in the territory as a connection between companies and the SSIP”.
