Positive results for the new BASF initiative dedicated to designers
The first Fabriktag held in Ludwigshafen provided the platform for different business units within BASF to come together and engage designers across various industries. Fabriktag, which means “a day in a factory” in German, was organized by designfabrik(r) in BASF, a business unit comprising of designers and engineers which offer support to customers in their design process. By advising on the right use of material, colors, trends and production processes at the event, BASF was able to help their customers think out-of-the-box and be more successful with their designs and applications. Projects with breakthrough designs using BASF’s range of products and solutions were explained and exhibited. Some examples include “Smart Forvision”, a forward-looking electric vehicle concept made in collaboration with Daimler, and “Concept 1865”, a concept bike incorporating state-of-the-art technology. The event, which took place on January 30th, attracted more than 100 designers representing companies such as BMW, Daimler, Faurecia, Hyundai, Porsche, Puma etc.
Alongside other business units, BASF Leather Chemicals division presented their design inspiration for leather – an elegant leather car seat along with a variety of premium leather and fashion articles, made from BASF’s latest inspiration catalogue, “Edition Rimini”.
