Alpa and Repico, leading companies in tanning chemistry, have recently announced that they have defined a collaboration agreement to consolidate their presence on the international market and harmonise products and services offered to tanneries. “This is not a merger – explains immediately Gloria Gualtieri, managing director of Alpa – but a strategic alliance that will allow us to develop important synergies and economies of scale aimed at improving market service”.
The companies, both joint-stock companies based in the Milan hinterland, with a tradition that has been lasting for over 70 years, present a range of products that, with the exception of some overlapping, can be considered complementary (with a specialisation in finishing for Alpa and in dyes for Repico). “The production facilities of both companies remain operational and will be optimised to the fullest – explains Gualtieri – We aim to reposition territorial structures, to guarantee a more incisive presence on the market and provide greater support to the branches and agencies”. The objective is also to “encourage research activities to optimise the current range of products that will be integrated with the development of new product generations with advanced sustainability features”.
The current product ranges of Alpa and Repico cover the entire tanning cycle, “from the wet phase to the finishing, in full compliance with the Reach and current regulations, in line with the specifications required by the market”. The names and brands of the two companies’ products remain unchanged for now.

At the next edition of Simac Tanning Tech the two companies will exhibit together.
