The Ministry of Economic Development has approved the registration of the “Arzignano Capital of Leather” trademark: excellent news for companies in the Venetian tanning industry that see the importance of their business recognised.
Great satisfaction comes from the municipality of Arzignano which promoted the initiative: the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Trade Enrico Marcigaglia and the Mayor Alessia Bevilacqua commented on the news as follows: “Arzignano Capital of Leather is finally a registered trademark, an exclusive property of the Municipality of Arzignano, of its citizens and its companies. In a highly competitive world, we have considered it strategic to protect our excellence”.
Enthusiasm has also come from the Venetian Leather District, the consortium created in 2009 to aggregate the production realities of the historic “leather triangle”, with Arzignano, Chiampo and Montebello Vicentino at the top, and promote the excellence of the leather supply chain.
The new trademark will also constitute a further stimulus to accelerate the path that the District has taken towards maximum circularity and the reduction of environmental impact. The news was commented by Riccardo Boschetti, President of the District: “We welcome the news with pleasure but also with a strong sense of responsibility. This initiative undoubtedly stimulates us to commit ourselves even more, so that this District can be increasingly recognised as sector leader, not only for production values, but also for the high level of excellence in the field of circular economy, social responsibility, higher education, innovative technology and environmental sustainability”. The “Arzignano Capital of Leather” trademark is now available to companies and the district free of charge to jointly develop future territorial and industrial enhancements.
