Assomac’s commitment to sustainability receives international recognition thanks to the achievement of the Best of APLF AWARDS, an award won by the Italian companies that are part of the “Supplier of Sustainable Technologies” project thanks to the “Green Plate”.
The “Green Plate” is a voluntary certification system, born from Assomac’s need to compensate for the lack of internationally recognised standards for the classification of energy and environmental performance of machinery, and was developed in close collaboration with RINA, the multinational player which provides certification.
It is a useful element to prove efficiency parameters, environmental impact reduction and the safety of the machinery produced. The awareness of the technological excellence achieved, also in terms of sustainability, is in fact a strong element of the Italian mechanical-footwear sector.
The possibility of certifying the energy performance of technological solutions places the Italian industry at the leading edge of research related to increasingly efficient processes in terms of energy and with a reduced environmental impact, orienting the world leather, leather goods and footwear industry, and more in general fashion, to an approach more in line with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) of the United Nations.
The “Best of APLF AWARDS” ceremony took place during the last edition of the APLF (Asia Pacific Leather Fair) event, held in Dubai from 30 March to 1 April. The award, on behalf of all member companies, was withdrawn by Maria Vittoria Brustia, President of Assomac, who expressed satisfaction for the important international recognition: “It is a recognition for the entire Association and rewards the effort for the transition to increasingly clean and environmentally friendly processes, which our companies have been carrying out for a long time in support of the international value chains in which we operate”.
