The Riva del Garda shoe fair scheduled for mid-June is also being forced to postpone the date due to the Covid-19 pandemic. “Because of the ongoing health emergency situation facing almost all the countries in the world, after a careful evaluation of the scenarios the Board of Directors of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi acknowledged that there are no conditions for carrying out the forthcoming editions of Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags initially scheduled for 13 to 16 June in Riva del Garda”, reads a press release dated 1 April.
At the same time, the organising company’s top managers of the most important international trade fair dedicated to the volume footwear sector with more than 1,300 and above all foreign exhibitors, communicate that they have started a consultation between all the operators, exhibitors, visitors and stakeholders involved at international and local level “to evaluate the possibility of reformulating the calendar and organising the winter edition, which usually opens the new year in January, before the end of 2020”.
Possible alternatives are also under study: “With the awareness that the decision to suspend the summer event will have an economic and organisational impact on the entire chain involved, Riva del Garda Fierecongressi intends to explore possible opportunities to safeguard the sector’s business, laying the foundations for new trade fair strategies that take into account market needs and can give impetus to a real recovery of the trading buiness at international level”.
The organising body ensures that decisions will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
