The industry mourns at the news of the passing of Giancarlo Falaschi of Santa Croce, Pisa. Born in December 1940, the Tuscan entrepreneur had founded LMF Biokimica in 1976, which over the years has become one of Italy’s leading manufacturers of chemical auxiliaries for tanneries. “An entrepreneur and a special man, Falaschi was one of the founding members of UNPAC,” writes Maurizio Maggioni, secretary general of the association that brings together Italian producers of tanning chemical auxiliaries.
“With your availability, commitment, discretion and foresight, you have been the reference of the Tuscan and national AICC for so many years, as well as an entrepreneur of example for the entire supply chain,” comments Franca Nuti, president of AICC.
“Santa Croce and the Cuoio district lose one of its best entrepreneurs,” writes La Nazione. Falaschi passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, at his home in Staffoli from the consequences of a stroke that struck him more than five years ago and forced him to retire from business. He leaves behind his wife Mara and children Carla, Silvio and Francesco.
