According to a new survey by World Footwear, global footwear consumption this year is expected to decrease by 22%. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has severely weakened the world economy and the footwear industry is no exception, as explained by the panel of experts from all over the world that draws up forecasts on behalf of World Footwear. Almost three out of four experts are expecting a drop in footwear sales in the next six months, while almost half of them are expecting a drop in prices. More specifically, footwear consumption in the world will decrease by 5.1 billion pairs (-22.5%). The most negative scenario is expected to affect Europe, with an estimated loss of 27% and less than 908 million pairs consumed. North America and Asia are expected to see a 21% drop (696 million pairs) and 20% (2.4 billion pairs), respectively.
