L’Officina-Chimica in Movimento, a chemical-tanning company of Solofra, has astonished the Lineapelle audience by presenting its latest innovations in the prestigious Innovation Square space. Particular interest was raised in a backpack with flap and pockets in transparent leather created with the collaboration of designer Vito Colacurcio. “We were able to obtain transparent leather through a completely free metal tanning drum process, which offers high quality and an entirely sustainable result”, explains entrepreneur Giovanni D’Onofrio. Always on the same backpack has been developed another noteworthy item by the company: inflatable leather. “We are still working to achieve certain technical and physical characteristics but we hope to patent it soon”.
L’Officina has made a name for its original fashion proposals, always the result of in-depth studies and experiments of its R&D Department. It is currently registering important feedback with “Piuma”, the first “thermo-welded feather-injected leather” also chosen by Maison Margiela to make a very successful bag. This already patented particular process won the “Best Advanced Process for Leather” award at the APLF 2018 in Hong Kong. But it is only the beginning. L’Officina has just created the 83029 brand (which is nothing but the CAP of Solofra) to market a first clothing line made up of hoods, sweatshirts and the classic down jacket, again with the collaboration of designer Vito Colacurcio.
