After three editions dedicated to the tanning industry’s problems and its supply chain’s problems, the fourth World Leather Congress has turned the spotlight on leather with respect to the finished product and the consumer, with an explicit title: “Leather in Everyday Life”. Therefore, the characteristics of leather, its versatility and longevity were extensively discussed, especially for the education of young American designers.

The congress was held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York on July 16, the day before the Lineapelle New York fair. The TWO main American associations, the tanners’ association (LIA) and the rough leather traders’ association (USHSLA, have organized the event under the auspices of the International Council of Tanners (ICT) and with the collaboration of Lineapelle/UNIC.

Experts, researchers, designers and fashion brand exponents of the automotive sector shared their positive experiences in the use of leather. An opportunity for discussion and exchange for the whole leather fashion system.
