The Italian entrepreneur chairs the organization which represents the international tanning industry
Italian tanner Rino Mastrotto has been elected president of the International Council of Tanners, the agency that represents the sector worldwide. At the annual assembly of ICT, held in Hong Kong on 30 March last, the 67 year old entrepreneur from Vicenza, who is already president of the unions of Italian tanners (UNIC) and European ones (Cotance), said he was proud to crown his career with such a prestigious international position. The ICT, with headquarters in Northampton (UK), unites tanning associations of 36 countries including Italy, USA, Brazil, Turkey, China and South Africa. The work program indicated by the new president, who takes over from Brazilian Wolfgang Goerlich, is based on four main themes: promoting consumption of red meat, revising international guidelines for buying raw hides, improving the quality of these by exercising greater control over origins and taking action to oppose protectionism.
